Okay, so I saw this Rolex GMT-Master II Batman Bezel, and I was like, “I gotta have it!” But, you know, the price tag? Not so much. So, I thought, “Why not try to make a knock-off version myself?” Yeah, I know, it sounds crazy, but I was bored and figured, “What’s the worst that could happen?”

First, I needed to find some cheap parts. I spent hours digging around online, looking at all sorts of watches and parts. I was trying to find stuff that looked like the real deal but didn’t cost an arm and a leg. I ended up getting a cheap watch case from some online shop, and a basic watch movement – that’s the guts of the watch that makes it tick. Found it on another site, nothing fancy.

The Hard Part: The Bezel

The bezel, that’s the ring around the watch face, was the toughest part. The real Batman has this cool black and blue thing going on. I looked around for something similar, but everything was either too expensive or looked super fake. Finally, I just bought a plain black bezel and some blue paint. Yeah, I know, it sounds janky, but I was determined.

I carefully took the watch case apart. It wasn’t easy, I had to be real careful not to break anything. Then I painted half of the bezel blue. It took a few tries to get it right, and honestly, it still looked a bit messy. But hey, it was blue and black, right?

Putting it all together

Next up was putting the movement into the case. That was a bit tricky, I had to make sure everything lined up perfectly. I watched some online videos where some guys were taking watches apart and putting them back together and tried to copy them. One slip and I could’ve messed up the whole thing. But somehow, I managed to get it all in there.

  • Got a cheap watch case.
  • Found a basic watch movement.
  • Bought a plain black bezel.
  • Painted half of the bezel blue.
  • Carefully put the movement into the case.

Then I attached the watch hands. They were just some cheap ones I found online, nothing special. I had to be extra careful with these, they’re super tiny and delicate. Finally, I put the whole thing back together, and voila! My very own “Batman” watch.

Does it look like the real thing? Nope. Not even close. Is it a bit wonky? Absolutely. But you know what? I made it myself, and that’s pretty cool. It’s not perfect, but it’s mine. And it tells the time, which is what a watch is supposed to do, right? At least, I did something other than just “hunting zombies” or “popping balloons” to “boost typing speed” or “learn to type step-by-step”, lol. Also, I didn’t spend time doing any “formatting for MLA” either, just do it! So I’m calling it a win. Might try to make another one sometime, maybe a different model. We’ll see.
