Alright, so, I’ve been wanting to get my hands on one of those Fendi Mon Tresor Bucket Bags for a while now. They’re just so darn cute, like a little bucket of style. But, you know, they cost a pretty penny. So, I thought, why not try to make my own? I mean, how hard could it be, right?
First things first, I started by looking at a ton of pictures online. I needed to see every angle, every detail. I found some good ones on a site called “eBay”, it is a website that people selling their old stuff, some people are selling the Fendi Mon Tresor Bags at $930.00. Gosh, that’s too much. Anyway, these bags come in all sorts of colors, like you wouldn’t believe. I saw one that had these little flowers on it, super cute. I wanted mine to be just plain and simple, classic, you know?
Finding the Materials
Next up, I had to figure out what this thing was made of. I couldn’t make the bag without the right materials. It looked like leather to me, but I’m no expert. I figured I could use some faux leather, you know, the fake stuff, to keep the cost down. I hit up a few fabric stores in my area, just browsing around. I’m trying to find something that looked and felt right.
After a bit of hunting, I found this perfect piece of faux leather. It was this rich, dark brown color, just what I wanted. It even had that kind of grainy texture like the real deal. Score! Then I needed some hardware, like the little metal bits that hold the bag together. I found some of those online, just a few basic pieces. Nothing too fancy.
Putting It Together
Now came the hard part, actually making the bag. I’m not the best at sewing, but I figured I could handle it. I started by cutting out the pieces of faux leather. I made a kind of template based on the pictures I’d seen online. It was basically just a big circle for the bottom and a long rectangle for the sides.
I sewed the sides to the bottom, kind of like making a cylinder. I was using a sewing machine I borrowed from my neighbor. It kept jamming, but I managed to get it done. Then came the tricky part, making the top of the bag so it could cinch closed.
I cut another piece of faux leather into a circle, but a bit bigger than the bottom. Then I made a bunch of little holes around the edge and threaded a drawstring through them. I attached this to the top of the cylinder, and voila! It actually looked like a bucket bag!
The Finishing Touches
The last step was adding the strap. I just used a long strip of the same faux leather, folded it over, and sewed it together. I attached it to the sides of the bag with those metal pieces I bought.
And there it was, my very own Fendi Mon Tresor-inspired bucket bag. It wasn’t perfect, a little wonky in places, but I was pretty proud of it. It held my stuff just fine, and it looked pretty darn cute, if I do say so myself.

So, there you have it, my little adventure in bag making. It was a fun project, and I ended up with a bag I really like. Maybe I’ll try making another one sometime, maybe in a different color. Who knows, maybe I’ll even add some of those little flowers!
