So, I saw this Prada Galleria Saffiano Leather Mini-Bag online and I thought, “Why not try to remake it?” I mean, those designer prices, right? It is time to get started with this. I started looking around at what people were saying about this bag.
I looked around online first. Some people were saying this Prada bag can be more expensive than LV bags. Can you believe it? Like, how much are you willing to pay for a brand name? Then I found some folks saying that the best place to get these bags is in Italy. I’m like, who’s got the time and money to fly to Italy just for a bag? We’ve got bags right here!
Started Looking for Materials
I started looking for materials that would be similar. I needed that Saffiano leather, or something close to it. You see, this type of leather is the real deal – it’s genuine leather that’s been treated and embossed. Unlike the usual full-grain, it doesn’t get that aged look over time. People say it’s chrome-tanned or vegetable-tanned, and the thickness depends on what it’s used for. I just needed something sturdy and that looked the part.
Got to Work
- First, I made a pattern. I found some pictures of the bag online and tried to copy the shape and size. It’s a mini-bag, so it’s not that big. This is a mini-bag. What are you even gonna put in there? It’s so small! I used some cardboard to make a template.
- Then I got some leather. I didn’t get real Saffiano, but I found something similar. I cut the leather according to the pattern I made. This part was a bit tricky, making sure all the pieces fit together.
- Next, I started sewing. I used my old sewing machine – it’s not fancy, but it gets the job done. I sewed the pieces together, trying to make it look as neat as possible. I’m no expert, but I think it turned out okay.
- I added a zipper and a strap. I found these at a local craft store. The strap was a bit long, so I had to adjust it. It’s supposed to be a mini-bag, after all.
Finished Product
And there you have it! My own version of the Prada Galleria Saffiano Leather Mini-Bag. It’s not exactly the same, but it’s close enough. I even added a little pocket inside – you know, for small stuff like maybe a coin or two, or even a key. It is more practical I think.
Some might say, “Why bother?” I say, why not? It was a fun project, and I saved a ton of money. Plus, I got to tell people I made it myself. That’s worth something, right?
Anyway, that’s my little adventure with this bag remake. Maybe I’ll try another one someday. Who knows!
