Alright, so, I’ve been working on something pretty wild lately—trying to remake a Patek Philippe Calatrava 5088/100P-001. Yeah, you heard that right. I know, it sounds crazy, but hear me out.
First off, I decided I wanted this watch, this specific model, the Calatrava 5088/100P-001. They only made ten of the original ones, and they’re made of platinum. I mean, who wouldn’t want one? But the price? Forget about it. It’s insane. So, I thought, why not try to remake one? A replica, but a good one.
Getting Started
- Researched: I hit the internet hard. I looked at every picture I could find, read through forums, and basically became a temporary expert on this watch. I needed to know every little detail, every curve, every engraving.
- Gathered info: This watch, it’s something else. Sapphire-crystal back, hand-engraved black enamel dial, 38 mm, platinum case. It’s like a piece of art. The original is from 2024, a new production. Man, I wish I was in the United States of America, maybe it would be easier to get my hands on the real deal.
The Process
I started by sketching out the design. I got some basic materials, nothing fancy, just stuff I could mess around with. I’m not using platinum, obviously. Then, I started shaping the case. It’s not perfect, but it’s getting there. The dial, that’s the tricky part. I’m trying to replicate that hand-engraved look. It’s tough, man, really tough. But I’m not giving up.

People say this remake, this PP Calatrava 5088/100P-001, it’s just as good as the real thing. I doubt it, but it’s nice to hear. The real one, they say it costs more than a house! But this, this is a labor of love. It’s not about the money, it’s about the journey, the process.
