Alright, so I’ve been messing around with this idea for a while, right? I wanted to try and make one of those fancy Prada bags – the Galleria, they call it. Heard it’s made of this “Saffiano” leather. Sounds kinda bougie, but it’s supposed to be tough stuff.

First, I went digging around the internet. Learned that Saffiano is just real leather that’s been treated and stamped with a pattern. And this Galleria bag, it’s like their thing. Apparently, it’s put together from 83 separate pieces! Can you believe that?

So, I started by getting my hands on some leather. Now, it’s not the exact Saffiano stuff, but I found some full-grain leather, which is pretty good, I guess. It’s thick, feels sturdy. I went with chrome-tanned ’cause that’s what I could find.

Then came the cutting. Oh boy, was that a chore. 83 pieces! I made a rough pattern based on pictures I found online, tried to get the sizes right. Let me tell you, it took forever. Cutting all those little shapes, making sure the edges were neat… it was a real test of patience.

Next up, assembly. This was like putting together a really complicated puzzle. Stitching everything together, piece by piece. My fingers were sore, let me tell you. But slowly, surely, it started to look like a bag. A bit wonky, maybe, but hey, it was taking shape.

I even tried to add some of those little details, like the metal feet on the bottom and that little triangle logo thing. Used some scrap metal and some old jewelry findings I had lying around. Not perfect, but it kinda worked.

The whole thing took me weeks, working on it here and there in my spare time. It’s definitely not as polished as the real deal. The stitching’s a bit rough in places, the shape’s not quite right, and it sure doesn’t have that fancy “Saffiano” texture.

But you know what? I made a bag. A kinda-sorta Prada Galleria-ish bag. And it actually holds stuff! I wouldn’t put anything too valuable in there, mind you. But it’s functional. And I learned a ton about working with leather, about how these bags are put together. It’s pretty amazing, really, the amount of work that goes into one of these things.

So yeah, that’s my Prada project. A bit of a mess, but it’s my mess. And I’m kinda proud of it. Maybe I’ll try another one someday, who knows?
