Okay, so I saw this PRADA Re-Edition 1995 Chaine Re-Nylon Mini-Bag online and I was like, “I gotta have it!” But then I saw the price tag and I was like, “Nope, not happening.” But, you know, I’m not one to give up easily. I figured, “Why not try to make one myself?”

So, first things first, I needed to get my hands on some Re-Nylon. Sounds fancy, right? It’s basically just recycled nylon fabric. I went on a hunt, checked out a bunch of fabric stores in my area and finally found something that looked pretty close to the real deal. It wasn’t cheap, but definitely cheaper than a PRADA bag.

Next up, the chain. I needed that signature chunky chain detail. I rummaged through some old jewelry boxes, hoping to find something I could repurpose, but no luck. So, I hit up a few craft stores and eventually found a chain that was the right size and style. I bought enough for the strap and the little decorative bit on the front.

Getting Down to Business

Now for the actual making of the bag. I’m no sewing expert, but I can handle a sewing machine. I found a simple mini-bag pattern online – nothing too complicated. I printed it out, cut out the fabric pieces, and started pinning them together.

The first few seams were a bit wonky, I won’t lie. It took some trial and error to get the tension right on my machine. But once I got the hang of it, things started to move along smoothly. I sewed the main body of the bag, then added the lining. I even managed to add a little zipper pocket inside – feeling pretty proud of myself at this point.

Attaching the chain was a bit tricky. I had to hand-sew it onto the bag, which took forever. My fingers were definitely sore by the end of it. But, it was worth it! The chain really gave it that PRADA vibe.

The Finishing Touches

  • The Logo: I couldn’t exactly put a PRADA logo on it, that would be illegal! But I found a similar font online and printed it on some iron-on transfer paper. I carefully ironed it onto a small piece of the Re-Nylon and then sewed that onto the front of the bag. It’s not perfect, but it gives it a little something extra.
  • The Strap: For the strap, I just used a long piece of the chain and attached some clasps to each end. I made sure it was long enough to wear cross-body, because that’s how I like to wear my bags.

And there you have it! My very own “Remake” of the PRADA Re-Edition 1995 Chaine Re-Nylon Mini-Bag. It’s not an exact replica, of course, but I’m pretty happy with how it turned out. It’s got that same vibe, and it didn’t cost me an arm and a leg. Plus, I made it myself, which makes it even more special. Now, I can rock that designer look without breaking the bank. Pretty cool, right?
